Abstract

The nonlinear governing differential equations of an initially stressed bimodulus thick plate are presented. The Galerkin approximate method is used to solve the large amplitude vibration problems of a simply supported rectangular bimodulus thick plate subjected to a combination of a pure bending stress and extensional stress in the plane of the plate. The Runge-Kutta method is employed to solve the nonlinear equations. The present results are compared with the previous results in the literature for ordinary thick plates and with the results of bimodulus plates in small amplitude region.
