Abstract
This paper deals with the dynamics of a cryogenic nitrogen jet injected into a supercritical nitrogen environment. The analysis treats the full conservation equations with turbulence closure achieved using a largeeddy- simulation technique. A unified model is established to determine real fluid behavior over the entire thermodynamic regime. The governing equations and associated boundary conditions are solved numerically using a preconditioning technique for low-speed flows. Detailed flow evolution is studied over a wide range of ambient conditions.
