Abstract
This paper presents a two-dimensional procedure for predicting the lateral drifting force and moment on a SWATH ship floating in oblique waves. The hydrodynamic interaction between two hulls is considered. The diffracted and forced wave potentials are determined by satisfying the kinematical boundary conditions on the twin-hull surface. Basically, the source distribution technique, strip method and Maruo's formula for two-dimensional drifting force are used. The scattered waves in the far field are determined from the asymptotic expression of the diffracted and forced wave potentials. A complicated model, Stretched SSP, is used for the numerical calculations and good agreement is obtained according to the comparisons with the available experimental results.
