Abstract
The leaching and stabilizing characteristics of synthetic diethyl dithiocarbamate (Cu-DDTC) in 1 N acetic acid solution were investigated. The release of the sulfur and nitrogen species were attributed to the partial decomposition of DDTC, and Cu was leached due to slight dissolution. The formation of new crystal phases and the changes in microstructures promoted the long-term stability of the Cu species in the leached Cu-DDTC complex. The unleached and leached Cu-DDTC complexes had the same morphologies, but the grain size of the leached Cu-DDTC complex was larger and more compact than that of the unleached complex. The strong metal-binding property of the leached Cu-DDTC complex was still present in Cu species and organic matter containing S and N.
