Abstract

On-site VR360 video viewing system can provide people with immersive viewing experience on various live activities, such as basketball, baseball, and concert. The main challenge of developing on-site VR360 viewing system is to design extremely low-latency algorithms and system implementation. This article will present a GPU-based implementation of on-site VR360 video viewing system with 4K resolution and 60 fps frame rates. The experimental results show that the latency is nearly 160 ms without network and display delay, and the overall latency is nearly 500 ms.
