Abstract
Saturated film boiling along a vertical flat plate is analyzed theoretically for n-propanol/water binary mixtures at atmospheric pressure. The numerical results demonstrate the influence of composition on film boiling heat transfer and agree qualitatively with experimental results from a quenching sphere. The appropriateness of taking the mass diffusion effect of binary mixtures, as represented by the F factor, into consideration for correlating film boiling data is also checked by the experimental and numerical results and found to meet with partial success.
