Abstract

The parallel seismic (PS) method is the only one being used in evaluating deep foundations that are covered by a superstructure. The components and operation of this method for estimating unknown bridge foundation depths have been described as well as the data that can be obtained from field tests. In addition, the facility and procedure have also been described in detail while the experimental results have proven the method's effectiveness. PS tests can identify and compute propagation velocities in the structural material and soil that surrounds the foundation. PS method is considered as one of the most accurate one in terms of determining unknown foundation depths.
