Abstract
A technique for measuring the forces on the cardiac lead terminal connector (LTC) of a defibrillator/pacemaker was developed. The technique was utilized in a cadaver model, and the measured force data was recorded for various arm movements about the shoulder. Results showed that the forces on the lead could be affected by various parameters, such as the amount of excess lead in the pulse generator pocket, attachment of methods of the lead to the clavicle-first rib site, and the degree of arm movement.
