N2 - One of the fundamental concerns in designing a machine is its mechanism for achieving a desired motion. The task of reconstruction design of lost ancient machines is mainly the design of mechanisms. This chapter presents the definitions of mechanisms and machines, the characteristics of mechanical members and joints, the definitions of kinematic link chains, the concept of constrained motion, the identification of the topological structure of mechanisms, and the process of mechanism and machine design [1, 2].
