Abstract
Capillary electrophoresis (CE) on microchips has made great progress towards practical applications in recent years. This paper describes microchip-based CE, both with and without the integrated function for polymerase chain reaction (PCR), for the analysis of PCR products. These chip-based electrophoretic methods are compared with several existing methods as well as with other potential competitors. Their advantages and limitations are discussed. Finally, the future of microchip platforms with fully integrated functions for genetic analysis is summarized.
