Abstract

This short note presents modeling and parameter identification for a consumer skillet. For the given heating system, it is interesting to understand the practical heat conduction behavior. If the surface temperature of the skillet can be predicted precisely, a low-cost and simple open-loop temperature control strategy can be realized. As a result, this paper presents the system modeling and identification procedure, where the modeling is based on the traditional heat dynamics and is further modified based on experimental observations. By using the developed measurement equation together with the use of the optimal least square method, precise parameters can be estimated. Finally, a practical experiment heating processing is conducted to validate the performance of the temperature prediction using the proposed method.
