Abstract

Cutting stock problem (CSP) involves cutting larger raw material into smaller demanded products at minimal cost. In this paper, a CSP model is formulated to solve for the optimal cutting plan of steel bars of construction projects. The model can reflect various precedence relationships between bars groups which are required according to construction or cutting practice in advance. An extended model simultaneously minimizes the maximum number of open stacks throughout the cutting process. Several study cases are also presented to explore potential applications.
