Abstract
A modified high-pressure ac calorimetric technique has been developed by using a "plus-minus" square wave as the heating source. Because of the absence of a second-harmonic component in the heating source, the spurious signal in the ac specific heat is thus totally removed. The sensitivity of the technique is, therefore, improved as evidenced by the successful detection of the many phase transitions in CeSb under high pressure.
