Abstract

This paper describes the numerical study of the phenomenon of natural convection in two enclosures connecting by a horizontal adiabatic channel. The two containers have the same fluid. The two vertical end-walls of the two containers are kept at different temperatures, and the others boundaries of the system are adiabatic. Flow patterns, temperature profiles and streamlines between the two enclosures and average heat transfer coefficients on the boundary surfaces are presented by cubic spline collocation method for various locations of the horizontal channel and Rayleigh number Ra.
