Abstract

The intrinsic electronic structure of La1-xSr xMnO3 (LSMO) thin films was investigated using hard x-ray synchrotron photoemission spectroscopy (PES). A clear additional well-screened feature only in HX PES was shown by the comparison of Mn 2p core-levels with soft x-ray PES. The ferromagnetism and metallicity of the LSMO series was indicated by the doping and temperature dependence. The results confirm that core-level HX PES can be used to study the bulk character of correlated electron systems exhibiting insulator-metal and magnetic transitions.
