Abstract

Electronic communications are the norm nowadays. This paper presents a social networking system designated as Music/Multimedia-Links (MuLink) for providing an online music sharing and listening service for users in proximity. MuLink enables users to self-discover their geosocial network and to immediately retrieve geo-data (e.g., favorite videos or playlists) relating to the music tastes of nearby users. Speakers attached to a MuLink Box then automatically retrieve and play online music streaming content based on the common music taste of the members of the discovered geosocial group. Furthermore, to initiate human interactions among the nearby users, MuLink employs a gamification-based function to evaluate the similarity of the music tastes of the different users.
