His research interests include the third generation (3G) mobile systems and beyond, cross-layer performance evaluation and optimisation, radio resource management for integrated services, medium access control (MAC) protocols, wireless ad hoc, sensor and mesh networks. He received the First Prize award at IEEE Hong Kong Section Postgraduate Student Paper Contest in 2001, the Honourable Mention award at ACM Hong Kong Section Postgraduate Research Day in 2002, the Second Prize award at IEEE Region 10 Postgraduate Student Paper Contest in 2002, the Outstanding PhD Thesis award from the Faculty of Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2002, the Young Scientist Award from the Hong Kong Institution of Science in 2003, the Short-Term Research Fellowship from British Telecom in 2004, and the Visiting Scholar at University of Waterloo, Canada, in 2005. He is on the Editorial Board of Wiley{\textquoteright}s Journal of Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, and has served more than 20 international conferences, such as IET 3G \& Beyond, IEEE ICC, IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE VTC and IWCMC, as TPC member, session chair and symposium chair. He is currently the Chair of Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) affinity group in the IEEE United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (UKRI) Section.",
