Abstract

A study was carried out to address the hypothesis that the emergent properties of muscle with reflexes are a result of known muscle mechanical properties and neural mechanisms, and that mathematical models of the components can be combined to synthesize the net properties. For this purpose, the muscle model and the spindle model were combined, and models of the Golgi tendon organ and the reflex pathways were developed to complete a model of the stretch reflex. The resulting data were analyzed in detail.
