Neural network on two-dimensional IC layout compaction

Abstract

A new method which uses a neural optimisation network to solve the two-dimensional (2-D) layout compaction problem is proposed. The problem is formulated as a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) problem with the value of each integer variable being 0 or 1. A special MILP neural optimisation network is used to attack the problem.
