Novel maximum power point tracker for PV systems using interval type-2 fuzzy logic controller

Abstract

This work presents a novel photovoltaic (PV) system with an intelligent maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller. This Intelligent PV system consists of a solar model, flyback converter, digital signal processor, and DC electronic load. The MPPT controller based on the interval type-2 fuzzy logic control (type-2 FLC) can achieve fast tracking of the maximum power point and prevents interference of noises. Experiment results indicate that the efficiency improved by the proposed type-2 FLC algorithm is 99.07% which is higher than those of fuzzy and incremental conductance (INC) algorithms.
