Numerical simulation and field study of a single-point-mooring marine cage

Abstract

The development of single-point-mooring (SPM) marine cages has attracted much attention in recent years mainly due to its eco-friendly features with respect to its surrounding environment. An SPM net-cage system with a load cell was deployed in the testing field to investigate its dynamic response. A lumped-mass method and net plane element approach have been used to simulate the dynamic motion. The comparison of results between numerical model and measured data has shown a satisfactory agreement.
