Abstract
Flow motions of gravity waves propagated over a layered permeable bed are examined. The viscosity of a fluid is assumed to be small and its effects are important in the regions near and inside the permeable bed. Two layers of permeable medium with different permeability are adopted in the present study. The unsteady Darcy's equations are employed to calculate the velocity and pressure in the porous bed. The justifications using Darcy's Law are discussed. The dispersion relation and the viscous damping rate of the progressive wave system are also investigated.
