Abstract
It is emphasized that the structural transition from the low temperature orthorhombic to low temperature tetragonal phase observed in La2-xBaxCuO4 with x=1/8 has rather pronounced effect on various physical properties, which indicates that the conduction electrons are relevant to the transition mechanism. Several examples of the anomalies which support the above idea are presented and discussed.
