On the smoothing of the multiple one-dimensional adaptive grid procedure

Abstract

The multiple one-dimensional adaptive grid procedure is modified by several methods of smoothing the weighting function. A two-dimensional oblique shock reflection problem is employed to demonstrated details and effects of the proposed adaptive grid method. Numerical examination exhibits that all the smoothing methods improve’ the original method effectively. Finally, a strategy to combine these smoothing techniques is proposed.
