Optimization of a finite dipole array with genetic algorithm including mutual coupling effects

Abstract

The genetic algorithm along with a circuit model were applied to optimize the gain of a dipole array by adjusting the dipole element positions. The circuit model based on the power series expansion technique was applied to reduce the computation work of antenna array mutual coupling effect. Numerical results show that significant gain improvement relative to the nonoptimized result can be achieved by adjusting the element positions using the genetic algorithm together with the circuit model.
