The elastic properties of microsandwich honeycombs are derived and compared to those of solid cell wall honeycombs. In addition, the optimum microstructure of lightweight microsandwich honeycombs with square cells is studied for a series of in-plane and out-of-plane elastic moduli and material properties. The efficiency of microsandwich honeycombs with the optimum microstructure is significant.
