Abstract

This paper concerns itself with the performance of adaptive routing in wavelength-routed networks with wavelength conversion capability. Exploiting the concept of load balancing, we propose an adaptive routing algorithm that determines routes according to delay-sensitivities of applications. We then develop an analytical model to estimate the blocking performance and compare analyses with simulations. The numerical results show that the proposed algorithm can enhance the blocking performance and fairly distribute load among the links.
