Abstract

The extension of the theory for the plasma flows and plasma confinement in the vicinity of a rotating magnetic island in tokamak plasma, to the collision plasmas was discussed. It was shown that the plasma flows in the toroidal direction at the same rate as the island rotation frequency. An island-induced symmetry-breaking viscosity was used to calculate the island rotation frequency. The radial electric field in the vicinity of the island was determined with the help of toroidal momentum balance equation.
