Position smoothing algorithm for capacitive touch panels

Abstract

This paper adopts fuzzy Kalman filter algorithm for eliminating noise of touch panel measurements, providing accurate estimated position and smooth tracking points. The fuzzy filter method is used to reduce unavoidable noise of measurement. In order to obtain real-time, smooth tracking of touch points, the Kalman filter is utilized to achieve more precise accuracy of the estimated position. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of both algorithms for capacitive touch screen panel systems.
