Abstract

The development of a full electric propulsion boat is a trend nowadays. Because of its quiet and low pollution, an electric boat is the first choice while thinking of replacing the old one in Taiwan. In order to study the design of an electric catamaran, this paper utilizes a ship model scaled down of a domestic displacement catamaran hull to do research. Two ships with the same ratio, different shapes and materials are used here to do weight bearing test and towing resistance test. Furthermore, the data obtained through the aforementioned testing are compared with the data retrieved during a test run of a real ship in order to find the relationship of power consuming between the small-scale ship model and the real ship. The efficiency of power consuming of a ship is also discussed in the paper to design a user-friendly human-computer interface.
