Abstract

Electrical resistivity measurements under hydrostatic pressure have been carried out on single crystals of BaC01-x. NixS2, which has a layered structure and exhibits the Mott metal-insulator transition with varying x. It has been found that the Mott transition can also be controlled by the external pressure p. Based on the resistivity data, a T-p-x phase diagram has been constructed, and the physical properties near the Mott transition induced by the pressure p are presented.
