Programmable and parallel variable-length decoder for video systems

Abstract

In this paper, we propose the hardware configuration of parallel VLC decoders. With the suggested hardware configuration, this decoder is programmable, faster and with less memory than the traditional decoder. In addition, this programmable variable-length decoder which decodes more than one codeword in one clock can be devised.
