Abstract
In this paper, the conductivity of the HAN aqueous solution and the nitrate ions concentration were measured. Electrolytic decompositions of HAN aqueous solutions of various densities were then experimentally characterized. The conductivity of the HAN aqueous solution has a maximum value of ~57.9 mS/cm at a density of approximately 1.4 g/cm3. The conductivity decreases in higher concentration solutions of which the density exceeds 1.4 g/cm3. In the electrolysis experiment, liquid and gas phase temperatures, current and voltage evolutions were recorded. The study found that there are three electrolytic decomposition reaction patterns for HAN aqueous solution depending on the density/concentration, which can be further correlated with the conductivity of the solution.
