Abstract

A quantitative two-dimensional digital image processing technique is employed to enhance the qualitative flow visualization images and to obtain the quantitative information on the characteristics of axisymmetric model burner flows. In order to look into the effects of the burner geometry, including the effects of the center body and the swirler, on the burner flow, three arrangements of the burner geometry are examined. Flow characteristics discussed here include the instability, the mean and RMS boundaries, the recirculation zone and the entrainment of the simulated nozzle flows.
