Abstract
Existing phases in the Y2O3-Nb2O5 system were investigated by Raman spectroscopy as well as X-ray powder diffraction. The present study reveals that Raman spectroscopy can also identify the existing phases of C-type Y2O3 (C) phase, fluorite structured solid solution (F), monoclinic YNbO4 compound (M), and their two-phase mixtures as well as X-ray diffraction. Raman spectra of defect-fluorite yttrium niobium oxide solid solutions Y100-xNbxO150+x(20≤x≤25) exhibit broad bands in contrast to the ordered C and M phases. This is probably the first characterization of the Raman spectrum of the fiuorite-structured Y100-xNbxO150+x.
