Abstract
Random lasing in an one-dimensional medium and in the regime of strong localization was theoretically studied. The relevant channels responsible for lasing as the quasistates were identified. The lasing threshold was computed in the regime of Anderson localization. The lasing threshold was found to decrease exponentially with the size of the system. The results showed that a exponentially small gain was needed for lasing initiation.
