Abstract

The instability and reactions of YBa2Cu3O7_X were studied in the presence of water. YBa2Cu3O7_X is decomposed slowly in water at room temperature, but quickly at the temperature above 100°C. The reaction products from YBa2Cu3O7_X were BaCO3, CuO, Y(OH)3, X-phase (probably to be Ba2Cu(0H)6), etc., but did not contain Y2BaCuO5.
