Abstract
A constant net heat duty operation is proposed for a three-phase distillation column to reduce interaction between manipulated and controlled variables. Relative gain array (RGA) is used for determining the interaction. The RGA is calculated from a steady-state simulation model. Under the proposed operation, interaction of control loops is reduced substantially.
