The development and technology challenges of a retinal prosthesis, from early through advanced generations were presented. A characterization of the hurdles and breakthroughs encountered in the wide array of clinical and engineering disciplines was also discussed. It is reported that successful development of multiple artificial retina chip (MARC) set will have a tremendous impact on the blind.
