Abstract
The problem of optimization of the geometry of solid anisotropic bar is formulated in terms of affine transformation and boundary element. The corresponding nonlinear programming problem is solved by the method of feasible directions. The design objective is to maximize the torsional rigidity subjected to an area constraint. It has been proved that shape optimization produces the best quality of elastic components with the resources available.
