Abstract

Single crystals of BaNiS₂ have been grown by a self-flux method. The crystallization region of BaNiS₂ was determined for the BaNiS ternary system. There are two kinds of morphologies of the crystals, plate and ingot type ones. The crystals were characterized by X-ray diffraction and electron-probe microanalysis.
