Abstract

Polarization-dependent losses (PDL) and polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) were evaluated in an installed fiber network. The measured histograms of the installed fibers were compared with the simulations. Monte Carlo simulations were completed using 500 randomly orientated fiber segments. The histograms resulting from the analysis of the transmission matrix and from the differential group delay were also shown.
