Structural and physical properties of rare-earth- (R-) substituted RBa2Cu4O8-d superconductors

Abstract

Superconducting RBa2Cu4O8-d ceramics with rare earths RY, Ho and Dy have been synthesized by a combined process of the polymerized complex method and the high oxygen pressure technique. Complex magnetic susceptibility measurements have indicated high quality samples of Y-124, Ho-124 and Dy-124 with onsets of the superconducting transition at Tc = 81.3, 80.7 and 77.2 K and transition widths ΔTc(10%-90%) = 2.4, 3 and 4.2 K respectively.
