Abstract
Round mounds were observed on the surface of electroless Ni-P deposits. Codeposition of alumina particles increased surface roughness. Agglomerates of 0.3-μm alumina particles were distributed unevenly in the deposits when particles were dispersed in the bath by stirring. With no stirring, only a small amount of alumina was codeposited. Heat treatment has a much greater influence than codeposited alumina on the microhardness of electroless nickel.
