Abstract

In order to know the engineering properties of non-plastic silty sand, this study were using Gel-Push sampler get a lot of undisturbance sample, and using a series of dynamic test to know the effect of fines content on engineering properties of non-plastic silty sand. According to the test result, we descript the soften behavior of non-plastic silty sand after it disturbed. And non-plastic silty sand can make soil become weakly. On the other hand, because the soil internal erosion makes soil particle lose, and led soil layer soften and piping failure. So the Flexible Wall Pinhole instrument was developed to test the internal erosion resistance of non-plastic silty sand. According to the test result, both fine content and confining pressure are important factor of the failure mode. At the last, this study proposes a SPT criterion for liquefaction resistance of non-plastic silty sand at last, and makes an example for future relative engineering design.
