System reengineering in mechanism design and implementation for unmanned ultra-light (Part I)

Abstract

The demand of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) with high payload and low speed performance is emerging for the system development in Sky-Net project. It is usually difficult to meet cabin capacity requirement for large size system and heavy equipment. The idea to convert an Ultra-Light Aircraft (ULA) into an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is studied with system design and fabrication for preliminary tests by a complete reengineering work. Using the hydraulic actuation, an Eipper ULA is redesigned and reconstructed into an Unmanned Ultra-Light (UUL) system. Preliminary design and engineering work are presented in this part of this UUL reengineering project. System considerations to meet specifications are described in details. The reengineering installation has completed for control implementation flight realization into an operation system.
