Texture examination on strip-cast Fe-C-Si white cast iron

The texture of cast iron strips, of compositions 2.4C-1.0Si, 2.6C-3.8Si, and 3.3C-3.2Si, were experimentally investigated. The strips were cast by an unequal-diameter twin-roller strip caster. Following results were obtained: the strips possess the preferred orientation of (001)//ND; compared to the copper-chilled specimen of the same composition, the 2.4C-1.0Si strip shows no significant change on the preferred orientation of (110)//ND; and the upper portion of the lower columnar dendrite zone in the center region of the 3.3C-3.2Si strip is bent toward the longitudinal direction.
