The implementation of the evaluation system of major equipment procurement in a medical institution

Abstract

This paper presents the evaluation system of major equipment procurement in a medical institution. It provides the integrated resources for the hospital chief administrator and staff about need motivation and background, situation analysis, estimated production capacity, profit, payback period, and related costs. Most importantly, the conclusions and suggestions from this medical institution point of view could be shown. Through this platform the head of institutional decision-making may consent to purchase them or not. Besides, the system can also indicate the availability rate about medical equipment after arriving the institution during some periods. The results show the feasibility to evaluate the performance of instruments, especially in expensive modalities such as CT, Angiography X-ray machines and Ultrasounds. By means of the evaluation system, the medical personnel can facilitate the supervision and management of instruments and equipment as well, and further create the value of significant assets in the medical institution.
