N2 - The declining population has become a common phenomenon all over the world. In order to keep the urban development in sustainable way, it is important to further reveal the essence, process, reason, and impact of shrinking cities. There are 49.15% townships of Taiwan have been facing the situation of shrinking population since the 1980s., furthermore, the proportion of it has been increasing over the years. This study used GIS and LISA method to explore the spatial pattern of land-use changes of shrinking cities in Taiwan. The results are useful to make land management strategies of shrinking cities.
