Abstract
A constant deflection technique incorporating precracked specimen was employed to determine the stress corrosion crack (SCC) growth rate in sensitized Alloy 600 in thiosulfate solution under applied potential conditions. At passive potentials, the intergranular stress corrosion crack (IGSCC) growth rate increased, while the critical stress intensity factor for SCC (KISCC) decreased with increasing potential. At + 500 mV(SCE), in the transpassive potential region, crack growth rate retardation was observed.
